I hope you are coping well with the loud noises all around us as we usher in our Semiquincentennial! This is another chapter of the best of times and the worst of times.

This email is about how the unprecedented paradigm of Temporal Rights was given to me exactly 50 years ago. I keep feeling like I need to "come clean" on how this happened. I was writing the Bicentennial feature series for the Foundation of Economic Education's magazine; The Freeman, and while working on the second of the series entitled "On Human Rights and Government", I wanted a basis for the natural rights cited in our Declaration of Independence, that non-believers could not dismiss as "ancient fables from a god that never was and never will be".
