You haven't hearing much from me since we moved to Kansas and began the renovation/restoration of our 1905 American four-square home here. We have completely replaced all the plumbing, about 8% of the wiring, and upgraded many other aspects - especially a completely renovated bathroom and an expanded, large kitchen with two sinks and two dishwashers. I have done most of that work while Charlet has painted every wall and ceiling, and reflowed the alligatored varnish on all the wonderful woodwork in this beautiful home. We are wrapping up the more pressing work so you may be hearing from me a bit more often.
You will also see a significant change in topics over the next months. I have deeply analyzed traditional rights during the past three years, and I believe that analysis is nearing completion. It is been an exciting adventure with many unexpected results. Here are the main ones:
  • The temporal rights basis for natural rights is new and unprecedented.
  • While completely supporting divinely endowed rights it is nonetheless completely secular - a description of how God endowed us with our rights. Thus it provides a path to discussions of rights with the so-called non-believers.
  • It leads directly to a simple and powerful basis for ethics and morality.
  • It reveals the false dichotomy of church and state.
  • It has far-reaching implications such as principles for the rearing of children.
Today I published a pair of new posts about the morality/ethics that temporal rights point to. This new basis for morality supports all the traditional moral standards and yet is profoundly simple. I think you will love it because it is so simple and hence very powerful. It is fully adequate as a simple standard for all political activities in a free society. Here you go:
The Traditional Bases for Morality and A New Basis for Old Morality.

If you would like to help promote this new understanding of the source of our natural, inalienable rights and/or the morality it produces, please use the share buttons on the web site and use #newRightsParadigm in your social media.
